What stoves and fireplaces are there?
Generally, a distinction is made between classic wood stoves, which are fired with logs, and pellet stoves.
For both stove types, there is also a water-bearing variant. Here the heat from the open fire is used for the hot water system. Thus you provide sinks, showers and heating systems with the necessary hot water.
Another subtype are the so-called accumulation heaters. These retain heat longer. With Nordic Fire, this is achieved by using soapstone. The natural material stores heat so that it stays warm long after the fire is out.
What is a pellet stove?
For a pellet stove, you need pellets as the heating medium. Wood pellets are small, cylindrical, compressed pellets made from dry, compressed sawdust and wood scraps. The pellet stove burns these pellets in a firebox to generate heat, which is then released into the room.
Typically, a pellet stove has a storage reservoir in which the wood pellets are stored. A mechanism transports the pellets to the combustion chamber, where they are ignited by an ignition mechanism.
Which is better: a pellet stove or a wood stove?
To decide whether a pellet stove or a wood stove is better for you, a number of factors are important. Among them are the space available for the stove and the fuel.
Pellets are a renewable resource, obtained mainly from waste from the wood industry, and are relatively stable in price. Nordic Fire's pellet stoves are extremely quiet, but some fan noise should always be considered. Pellet stoves also rely entirely on electricity. But the electric component ensures precise operation of the stove.
Wood stoves convince with a particularly beautiful flame pattern. They confirm the romantic image of a flickering fire that most people have in their minds when they think of a cozy evening by the stove.
