Types of pellet stoves
Convection heat, radiant heat, airplus, central heating connection and built-in

Pellet stoves are available in various designs. To determine which model is perfect for your situation, there are five concepts that we would like to explain to you.

Convection heat

The pellet stove started out as a device for delivering convection heat. Convection is the transfer of heat through air where the pellet stove sucks in cold air, heats it and blows the warm air into the room using a convection fan. Thanks to this way of heating, your (living) room is evenly distributed. Due to the even distribution of heat, convection heat is suitable for medium and large rooms.

Radiant heat

Actually, the term says it all: radiant heat is heat achieved by radiation. To achieve this, the radiant device must have a higher temperature than the room to be heated. The pellet stove is ideal for this. Thanks to innovative design, we offer various models of pellet stoves where the convection fan can be completely switched off, making the pellet stove a radiant stove. Radiant heat is ideal for smaller spaces.

Airplus

An Airplus pellet stove is equipped with at least one extra convection fan, allowing you to heat multiple rooms with the pellet stove. You can distribute the amount of warm air per room using the adjustable fans. The rooms to be heated therefore need to be the same size. An Airplus device comes into its own when two connected rooms need to be heated.

Central heating connection

A pellet stove with central heating connection is equipped with a heat exchanger that converts the heat from the flames into hot water for central heating. This allows you to efficiently heat the home with a pellet stove. Because the central heating pellet stove has 'priority' over the central heating boiler, you are assured of savings on your gas bill. The central heating pellet stove is also equipped with a convection fan, which also heats the room in which the stove is located. A central heating-connected pellet stove is ideal for households that want to save on gas costs.

Built-in

And then there are built-in pellet stoves: these are available in the aforementioned versions. Because the pellet stove is built into a chimney, it is free to determine where the convection heat is conducted. This allows you to heat one or more rooms. Our wide range also includes a central heating-connected built-in pellet stove. A built-in pellet stove is suitable for situations where a built-in is just a little nicer.

After you have decided which type of heat and pellet stove is suitable for your home, it is important to choose the right power. The required power depends on several factors, such as the degree of insulation and size of the room to be heated. When determining the required number of kWs, look at the room(s) that the pellet stove will heat. For tailor-made advice, we recommend contacting the Nordic Fire specialist in your region.

Power required to heat the desired areas

Depending on the room you want to heat, you can choose the appropriate power.
But how do you know how much power you need for your home?

To give a clear answer to this, Nordic Fire has designed a table in which you can view the number of kWs per situation.

Please note: the table serves as a guideline, please contact the dealer for tailor-made advice.

1) Well insulated house. The house has double glazing, wall insulation and floor insulation.

2) Reasonably insulated house. The house has at least double glazing.

3) Poorly insulated home. The house has none of the above forms of insulation.
