When looking for an efficient way to heat your home, a pellet stove can be an excellent choice. Pellet stoves are sustainable and can save a lot compared to natural gas or a heat pump. But it is important to choose the right stove that meets your specific needs and preferences. We hereby give you tips to help you make the best choice for a pellet stove.

  1. Determine your heating needs: Before choosing a pellet stove, determine the size of the room you want to heat. And do you want to heat 1 room or several rooms? There are pellet stoves that can heat several rooms in addition to the living room. "Airplus" pellet stoves have 1 or 2 extra warm air outlets at the back, so you can also heat the kitchen or hallway, for example. There are also central heating pellet stoves that can be connected to your existing central heating system.

  2. Check the efficiency of your pellet stove: The efficiency of a pellet stove determines how efficiently the stove converts fuel into heat. The efficiency of a pellet stove that meets the latest ecodesign requirements is at least 89%. However, the modern pellet stove already has an efficiency of 92 to 93%.

  3. Look for quality and reliability: Research different models to make sure you choose a reliable, high-quality pellet stove. Check reviews and look for brands with a good reputation and customer service. It is easy to order a pellet stove over the Internet, but when problems arise, it can be difficult to find parts or a good service technician.

4. Programmable functions and controls: Consider heaters with programmable timers and      thermostat control. A remote control and WIFI app are also very useful. This means that a heater can always be operated and monitored. Even if you are not at home.

5. Ease of maintenance: Look for modern models with an automatic burner box cleaning system. This means that you do not have to clean the burner box every day before you can use the pellet stove. This is much more convenient.

6. Noise level: Pay attention to the noise level of the pellet stove, especially if you are sensitive to noise. Some models have adjustable fan speeds or switchable fans to keep the noise to a minimum. It is also important to choose a pellet stove with stepless screw motors so that the feed motor is not audible. Older pellet stoves still have a motor that continuously turns on and off, which can be quite noisy.

7. Top and/or rear connection: Many pellet stoves only have a rear connection. This means that much more space is required for the flue gas connection and the pellet stove extends further into the room. Choosing a pellet stove with a top connection is a better option. It takes up much less space.

8. Warranty scheme: Look carefully at the warranty. Often a 2 year warranty is offered. Good brands offer a longer warranty of up to 5 years. This not only indicates the reliability of the pellet stove, but can also save you a lot of money if you are unexpectedly faced with an expensive repair.
